Come On, Irene.

As any of you who live on the Northeast coast know, an unwelcomed tourist came through last weekend causing more panic and preparation than any actual damage.  While I wasn't in New York City, because I'm still living the high life in the Vineyard ;), many of my friends were updating me about the different businesses being closed, grocery stores being ransacked, and MTA's decision to shut down the subways.

Irene. For a bitch caused such a whoop-to-do about your arrival you sure didn't follow through (thank goodness).

Luckily, here in Mass. we only had a day of CRAZY winds and funny colored skies.  And luckily we survived without electricity.  A house of 10 people without properly flushing toilets can get real sketchy real fast but we had already made preparations and were ready for some smelly times- we had jugs of water, filled bathtubs to assist the toilet flushing, lots of Nutella, and several cases of beer and a jug of tequila.

Yes, I'll admit I was the only one drunk at 2pm while eating French Toast- but the fact that we were able to have a whole day that condoned napping as much as possible and only taking breaks to eat.

Thankfully we made it through without any damage, and as far as I have heard NYC was fairly unscathed as well (minus the financial district).

Thanks for the visit Irene.  (AND MY NEXT POST WILL ACTUALLY BE FROM NYC!)

Not in New York...for a bit

Ladies and Gents,

I have the amazing opportunity to live in Martha's Vineyard for the month of August.  And let me tell you...this is no C-List experience.  So far I've been to the beach everyday (It's supposed to rain today so tonight might be midnight skinny dipping) and eaten a lot of local food and layed out in the sun while reading far more than I have all summer. And it's only been a week.

I'll keep ya'll posted on this crazy place in the middle of the Atlantic...but in the meantime find something to occupy your last summer days in the City that DOESN'T SLEEP. (I'm also doing a lot of that here, thank goodness.)

HAPPY AMERICA DAY!

So,

There was a lot to celebrate yesterday (besides that crazy thing that got signed 235 years ago).  New York recently legalized gay marriage...!!!!!!!!!!  My roommate just found out he will be living In The Heights starting in October (so excited for him)!!! And...I am going to visit the good 'ole South at the end of this month!

Okay...so not really all that New York related.  But all pretty exciting nonetheless.  I continued my C-Lister tradition of viewing the fireworks from a roof in Williamsburg...I don't really know why anyone would WANT to be right next to the where the fireworks are being shot off.  It seems like it would be a bit loud and crowded. And missing the whole fun part that is supposed to be a part of any July 4th celebration.

All in all...it was a great show, great friends, and I'm so glad I finally found a place that sells Blueberry Beer (Food Emporium if you are wondering).

That's all for now fellow C-Listers...now go tell someone to "f*** off" while it's still beautiful out.

Weekend-Get-Away

This past weekend the C-List went A-List...that's right ladies and gentlemen.  I was in the Hampton's.

So I'm pretty sure I have discussed the importance of ALWAYS SAYING YES in this city (unless it will cause you bodily harm or emotional distress) but because I said yes several months ago to a little job offer from the friend of a friend, I was able to enjoy a paid vacation in one of the most expensive area codes in NY.

Yes.  I did have to perform.  On a stage.
No. I wasn't stripping.
And yes...I did find that the best part of the whole trip wasn't the Hampton's beaches or the cute shops and expensive restaurants.  It was getting to be a part of a family for a little bit.  While I did have my own little apartment for the entire stay, I was so graciously taken care of by the family of my boss (well...she was my boss for the weekend) and it was so nice to get to peek into how their family works/lives/co-exists/loves together.

It was really amazing and...I gotta say (for once) I'm pretty lucky I live in this big grey city.  Otherwise it wouldn't feel so amazing to get out. :)

April showers bring...

Okay so I thought the point of having an ugly/shitty/awful April was to be able to run around naked in the beautiful weather through out May.  No?  Did I not get the "Spring isn't coming this year" memo?

Advice time- when in doubt say yes.
For example: when your boss asks if you are coming out with him to drink at a friend's loft SAY YES.
I have never been so inspired as watching all of these legends drink and laugh and just be who they are around each other.  Seeing these dancers in their 40s,50s,60s still making fun of each other. still tangoing drunkenly in the living room with each other. still talking about performing and making art and what is happening with the arts now in our society...all I could do was sit and watch and laugh.

I learned a lot that night.  And I'm so eager to find myself in more places with people I can learn from.  I feel like I've been teaching too much for too long...having to take the lead and make everything happen because everyone else is too afraid.

Alright...Starfucks is freezing so I can't keep typing here...but...stay tuned for more fun living on the C-List (much is happening soon!)

Oh...and the end of this posts' title is "more rain."

Where the hell have I been?

So.  For the month of April, this blog should have been called "The C-List everywhere-but-New York City".  I feel like I've been in and out so much and haven't even had a chance to sit down and cut my toenails (seriously. they are foul right now).

BUT...I'M BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER.

And seeing as how this is my last night in this particular apartment located on the the <cough>awful<cough> Upper East Side, I thought I should do a bit of updating.

Here's a quick glance at what my April entailed:
Los Angeles and Las Vegas through April 1st
Saratoga Springs on the 3rd and then again the 8th through the 10th
Tivoli, New York the 12th through the 17th
Austin, TX the 21st through the 26th...
and now finally a weekend in beautiful (and finally flipping showing some Spring weather) New York City.

Wow that was a lot.  I feel pretty lucky though...because every single one of those trips included performing, taking class, teaching, playing with best friends, or just being happy in general.  I think I would do okay with a life on the road.  If I didn't have to still pay rent. :)

Anyways...onward and upward I think and I'm excited for what is to come. New place to live. New job. New FREAKING LIFE.

hahaha. kinda.

Okay...now that I'm in one city for a bit (namely the one I started this blog for) I'll be seeing you kids much more. Via my awesome writing skills of course.

Back and Better Than Ever

Alright...it's been a month and I've been sleeping on the job.

Well, really I've been hauling ass and working and finally got a break last week to go visit the West Coast (bestcoast) for a bit.

My dearest friend lives in West Hollywood...and it was probably the most fun I've ever had on a vacation getting to literally live with her for a week.  From playing at the burlesque club she works at, to shopping and going out in West Hollywood (Cali gays don't fuck around.  Well, I mean the for sure fuck around but at least they look better doing it than pale ass NYC bitches), LADY GAGA CONCERT, and we even took some dancey classes together.

Man I love that place.  And that girl.
From LA I went to Vegas with some of my best friend's from school Huey, Duey, and Louie.  Duey is from Vegas so we stayed in her mom's (beautiful) house and got to hang out with some of her friends.  Here's the thing, I love knowing people with connections.  Club pool, night club VIP...it was probably the most fun I've had in Vegas (of all 4 times I've been).  It was also cool to see one of my good Oklahomies/NYCers/now-he-works-in-Vegas-and-loves-his-life.  Let's just say what happens in Vegas really does stay there.
For now. :)

Anyways now it's back into the grind as my roommate and I look for a new apartment and I keep pretending like money grows on trees or in little plastic squares in my pocket.

I promise not to leave my blog lonely for that long again...AND I'M POSTING PICS SOON.
(you should all also know that the elliptical DID come...and not lives in Brooklyn with a family much more loving than myself.)
